The license selector accepts one of the supported Creative Commons licence slugs and resolves it to the canonical deed link; it rejects an unsupported or made-up slug. A source URL is optional, but when supplied it must be a valid absolute http:// or https:// URL. These checks validate the input shape, not ownership of the work or the contents of the linked page.

How does ShareAlike affect an adaptation and its generated credit?

With a ShareAlike licence, a distributed adaptation generally needs to use the same or a compatible licence, subject to the exact deed and legal code. The generated credit preserves the selected licence link and gives you a place to describe changes, but it does not grant extra permission or decide whether your adaptation meets ShareAlike. State the changes accurately and keep the original deed link with the published credit.

What does NoDerivatives mean for edits, remixes, samples, or other adapted versions?

A NoDerivatives licence limits distributing adapted versions of the work. An edit, remix, sample-based release, translation, or other changed version may need separate permission from the relevant rights holder, depending on the facts and the applicable legal code. The generated block identifies the original work and licence; it does not authorize an adaptation or turn a restricted use into a permitted one.

Where should I place the output on itch.io, YouTube, and Bandcamp?

Put the complete credit in a durable, public field close to the use: the itch.io game description or release notes, the YouTube video description, and the Bandcamp album or track description and credits/liner notes where available. Keep the work name, creator, source URL when provided, exact deed link, and change note together; do not rely on an image, a transient comment, or a buried post that can disappear.
